What is the difference between the old and new supply chain mapping?

Why we updated our supply chain mapping feature, how to transition to the updated version, and other valuable information on how to use it.

Updated over a year ago

How is supply chain mapping situated in the Retraced system?

At the moment, Retraced gives companies three ways to explore their supply chains:

  • On company level with Network sharing

  • On product level with supply chain mapping

  • On order level with product backward or fiber forward tracing

Supply chain mapping has been our first approach to enable companies to explore their supply chains. Since then, we implemented the other two approaches and always wanted to connect them more directly to ensure that our users have a frictionless experience. The update of the supply chain mapping feature is one of the steps for doing so.

How do the old and new supply chain mapping differ?

The update of the supply chain mapping feature includes multiple improvements:

  • Tracing users can show their traced supply chains on order level in the product pages

  • Mapping users also have the new, more interactive UI from tracing

  • Mapping users can select the facility process from a company in their supply chains that they use

How do I transition from the old to the new supply chain mapping?

To get the updated version of Supply Chain Mapping, you just have to contact our User Experience Team through the platform chatbox. They will upgrade your account in minutes. After that you can start mapping your supply chains with the new interface with the following steps:

  1. Enter the supply chain mapping through our sidebar.

  2. Select Version 2 from the drop down in the upper right corner.

  3. Click the "+ Add supply chain" button.

  4. Start mapping by giving the supply chain a name and setting the facility process of your company first. Then, click the "Create" button.

  5. Now, click the blue "+" icon next to your company name to add the next supplier. Then select the supplier name and the respective facility process. Finally, click the "Add company" button.

IMPORTANT

From now on, Version 1 supply chains are frozen and can no longer be edited or linked to products. Thus, please migrate Version 1 supply chains to the new mapping feature as soon as possible. We plan for a transition period of one year.

In June 2024, we will disable the old mapping (Version 1). Please ensure that you migrate your existing mapped supply chains to the updated version until then.
