This article explains the different action statuses and elaborates why CAPs have progress instead of a status.
What statuses can actions have?
Corrective (CA) and preventive actions (PA) can have 5 different statuses:
To Do: The action is ready to being picked up by the assignees
In Progress: The Assignees are working on the action
Blocked: The assignees are blocked by something and cannot finish the task
In review: The assignees are done with their work and the action is ready to being reviewed by the reporters
Done: The reporters have reviewed the work and marked it as done as they approved the outcome.
Each status can be assigned to an action in any point of time. We do not lock it. So, even if an action has been done, it can be reverted to another status in case it was marked as done by mistake. The status changes are tracked and always visible in the history tab.
Recommendation from retraced: Combine status changes with commenting the reason of the status change.
A CAP does not have a status. As it is not an action itself but rather a project combining multiple actions, we show its progress. The progress is calculated based on the status of the actions linked to it.
